OH Governor’s Commission for Student Success website
Welcome to the Governor’s Commission for Student Success website.

This website has been established to help keep Ohioans updated on the work of the Commission – and on its recommendations about how we can improve student achievement by insisting on high academic expectations for all students, fair and effective assessments based on those standards, and accountability for results.

My vision is that Ohio’s schools will prepare all children to succeed, whether in further education, the workplace, or as good citizens. It is that teachers, students, parents and communities know what is supposed to be taught and learned, and how progress will be measured. It is that the state provides training and assistance to schools and educators to help them meet standards that enable all students to succeed.

Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance
The Committee serves as an independent source of advice and counsel to Congress and the Secretary of Education on student financial aid policy. It was established by the Congress of the United States with the enactment of the Higher Education Amendments of 1986 and began operation in 1988. The purpose of the Advisory Committee as originally defined by Congress in statute is to:

  • Provide extensive knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and
  • institutional programs of postsecondary student assistance;
  • Provide technical expertise with regard to systems of need analysis and application forms; and
  • Make recommendations that will result in the maintenance of access to postsecondary education for low- and middle income students
