The American Federation of Teachers is the nation's second largest teachers union. The union’s eight-decade history is marked by two traditions: commitment to principle and eagerness to innovate. We believe that our union must stand for the well-being of the people our members serve and the institutions in which our members work -- in addition to advancing the goals of security and dignity in the workplace.
